Breaking the mental health stigma
The National Alliance on Mental Illness has some ideas on how to fight mental health stigma.
Talk openly about mental health. Talking about mental health helps people understand how common mental health illnesses are.
Think about language. Be mindful. Think before you speak. Be kind and understanding. Focus on the person and not on the mental illness.
Learn more about mental health. Read articles and watch educational videos about mental health illnesses and treatment. Knowledge and understanding helps to reduce mental health stigma.
