“Free food” - don’t we all like to hear these words? Although bringing in a box of donuts or bag of cookies to share in the office is a great gesture to show appreciation to your employees and coworkers, it’s not always the healthiest approach. Temptation is man/woman’s greatest enemy and for most people, if food is there, they will want to eat it.  Next time you are faced with a break room full of goodies, step outside and get some air or go on a short walk before indulging in a not-so-good-for-you snack. Or, keep healthy options on hand that satisfy as well as keep you energized.

Here are some examples of healthy snacks for your office munchies:

  • Almonds - help promote health with vitamins and minerals and satiety with healthy fats
  • Popcorn – a high fiber, low calorie nutritious and tasty snack
  • Carrots – a healthier option than any potato chip
  • Popcorn – a high fiber, low calorie nutritious and tasty snack
  • Bananas – a sweet pick-me-up at any time of the day
  • Hummus – a great Mediterranean fiber-filled dip that goes perfect with veggies
  • Oranges – provides a large amount of vitamin C, giving your immune system an added boost
  • Walnuts – rich in Omega-3 fatty acids making this nut the ultimate brain food
  • Green tea – found to have powerful anti-cancer properties
  • “Ants on a log” – (celery sticks with peanut butter and raisins) – a triple nutritious snack with protein, a veggie and topped with sweetness
