So you have health insurance. Now what? Knowing how to make the most of your plan can be a challenge unless you’re familiar with some key terms and topics. Here are some basics to keeping your costs low and taking advantage of your plan’s benefits.
How do I begin to access my health care?
A great place to start is with your well checkup. This visit with your primary care physician can ensure you’re in good health and help find problems early. If you’re new to them, well checkups can also establish your relationship with your primary care physician.
What is a primary care physician (PCP)?
Your primary care provider (PCP) is the first person you see for many of your medical questions or concerns. They help you stay healthy.
How do I find a primary care physician in my network?
To find a new PCP or see if your current PCP is in your network, you can use the provider directory. You can quickly find the provider directory on our site. Visit MolinaHealthcare.com and select “Find a Doctor or Pharmacy.”
As a Molina member, if you’d like to change your PCP, you may also do this online at MyMolina.com.
How do I know if my medication is covered?
Using covered medication can reduce your out-of-pocket costs significantly. Prescription medications are covered when they are ordered for you or your dependents by a provider and the drug is listed on your plan’s formulary. The formulary is a list of approved drugs that doctors may order for you. You can find your plan’s formulary on our website.
How do I know what other services are covered by my plan?
Your plan materials explain in detail what services are covered by your plan. You can also learn more about your coverage by visiting the Benefits at a Glance for your plan on the My Molina portal.
