We’re excited to announce that Molina Healthcare has been selected as a National Strategic Partner with the USDA’s Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion (CNPP). Alongside other national organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Disney and Nestle, Molina will promote CNPP’s key messages, which encourage healthy eating and physical activity.
As we frequently refer to USDA materials, such as the MyPlate icon, we believe the partnership to be a natural fit and mutually beneficial collaboration. We look forward to incorporating USDA messages into our blog posts on this site (as we have done before, here and here) and exploring other areas where we may expand our involvement.
If you have any ideas for the partnership, feel free to contact Meridith.Jones@molinahealthcare.com or write your idea in the comments below!

Last month, Molina Healthcare employees teamed up to participate in the Tour of Long Beach – a charity bike ride to support pediatric cancer research for Miller Children’s Hospital of Long Beach. People of all ages participated in the 31-mile ride, including 72-year-old, Leroy Dyrud, a facility maintenance worker who has been with Molina Healthcare for over 12 years. Leroy, as well as Ramiro Hernandez, facilities maintenance worker, became interested in the event as Graciela Guzman, an administrative assistant also on the facilities team, was “talking it up,” as Dyrud accounts. In addition to Graciela’s influence, Ramiro was inspired to ride to “help the kids with cancer.”
The bike ride, which began at Marina Green Park in Downtown Long Beach, looped past the 405 freeway over to the 605 freeway and back toward the coast. “It was a nice ride because it was flat,” said Leroy.
Dyrud was especially thankful for camaraderie of the others he rode with, which included Ramiro, Graciela, and her husband, Art. “Gracie’s husband was a real encouragement to me…Every once in a while he’d give me a little boost,” said Leroy. Graciela was particularly impressed with Leroy’s performance. While Leroy only trained a few times in preparation for the event, Graciela praises, “Not once did he complain.”
The group who started the ride together, ended together along Shoreline Drive. A good time was had by all and as Ramiro states, “when you get to the finish line…it [feels] really good.”
